FAQ

  1. This app does not track my app usage.

It happens when you are using an Android 5.0 or greater device. To enable App Usage app to access the usage information, please go to: Launcher > Settings > Security > Apps with usage access > enable "App Usage" app to access the usage information.

On some devices, the problem is caused by the battery saving, task killer or CPU/power optimization function/app. Please look for related system settings or apps, and add this app to the whitelist(ignored) list. If you are using an Android 6 or greater device, please also add this app to the whitelist of battery optimization.

Please visit http://bit.ly/2EEMD4o for how to add our apps to the whitelist of task killer.

It may also be caused by the system built-in auto-start manager. Please visit http://bit.ly/2CsiBzk to add our apps to the allowed list.

If it still does not help, please check the "Use old solution to track usage" option by going to: App Usage > Settings > App/Phone usage

  2. Why does it show the app usage time in 0s for all apps?

This app starts tracking app usage when it is first launched. You should be able to see the usage time in a few hours.

If you are using an Android 5.0 or greater device, this app will retrieve the last 14 days app usage time from the device on first installation.

  3. What does the meaning of app usage time?

It's the time that you spent on (i.e. view) the app when the screen is on. If the app runs in the background (e.g play music) or when the screen is off, the run time won't be added into the usage time.

In addition, the usage on a floating window (e.g. Messenger bubble head) cannot be tracked due to the restriction of Android.

  4. Does the app usage function use much battery power?

No. We put a lot of effort into optimizing the power consumption for this app. You can check what uses the battery by opening the system's Settings window and touching "Battery" (Android 4+) or "Applications" > "Battery use" (Android 2). The Battery Use screen lists apps that have been using the battery, from greatest to least battery use.

  5. Will this app send out my app usage information?

No, it won't send and/or share your app usage data. For details, please visit our privacy policy.

  6. Can this app uninstall all selected apps without manually confirmation for each uninstallation?

User has to manually confirm for each app uninstallation. It's required by Android unless you are using a rooted device. If you are using a rooted device, please check the "Root uninstaller" option by going to Settings > Root uninstaller.

  7. Why cannot I uninstall built-in apps?

Due to the restriction of Android, users cannot uninstall device built-in (system) apps.

  8. Why does it show the empty installation/uninstallation history?

This app only starts tracking installed/uninstalled apps when it is first launched.

  9. Why does the app always ask same permissions again after I restart my Xiaomi device?

The problem is caused by Xiaomi devices use different permission settings than the standard Android system. To fix the problem, please visit bit.ly/2rQxy83.

  10. Can I remove the "Today usage" notification?

On Android 8 or greater devices, you can remove it by going to: Launcher > system Settings > Apps > App Usage > App notifications > switch off the option of Today usage

On Android 7 or below devices, either "Most used apps notification" or "Today usage reminder" setting should be checked; otherwise, the usage data may not be correct or be able to be tracked. The "Today usage" notification can only be removed when the "Most used apps notification" setting is checked. Besides, You can hide the icon from the status bar by going to: App Usage > Settings > Usage reminder > Today usage > Priority level > select "Low".

  11. How to remove the Android System notification icon from the system status bar?

This app needs to be run in the background for tracking the app usage time. On Android 8 or greater devices, Android displays an "Apps consuming battery" or "Apps running in background" notification for this app.

On Android 8, this system notification cannot be removed due to the restriction of Android, but you can hide the icon from the system status bar by: open the notification drawer > long press this notification > tap "All categories" button > tap "Apps running in background" item > tap "Importance" item > select "Low".

On Android 8.1 or greater device, you can remove it by opening the notification drawer > long press this notification > tap "All categories" button > switch off the "Apps consuming battery" option. Or, going to Launcher > Settings > Apps > tap "See all apps" > MENU > Show system > tap "Android system" item > App notifications > switch the "Apps consuming battery" option off.

  12. What do the asterisk(*) and hash mark(#) indicators mean?

The app name with either '*' or '#' means that it's a system (built-in) app. For the app with a '#' means that you can restore the app to the factory version by uninstalling the update.

  13. I only want to track my usage from 8 am to 5 pm.

You can start/stop to track the usage by manually changing the "App/Device usage" setting. If you'd like to automatically start/stop the tracking, you can install our another free app, aProfiles, which enables you to automate tasks or many things to happen based on location, time triggers, etc. You can use a "Time scheduler" condition to trigger the "Enable App Usage" action for starting/stopping the usage tracking.

  14. How can I keep the "Most used apps" notification permanently expanded?

On Android 8 or greater devices, the system collapses notifications which has the low importance. If you'd like to keep the notification expanded, please following the instructions below:

    1. Settings > Most used apps > Additional settings > Importance > select "High"
    2. Settings > Most used apps > uncheck "Notification" > check "Notification"
  15. How can I save export/backup files to my cloud?

To sync files to a cloud storage, please install a "sync files to cloud" app (e.g. FolderSync) to synchronize the local files to your favorite clouds.

  16. How to use adb to grant permissions to this app?
